Outfitters
The two main sections run by rafting outfitters are Goodyears Bar and the Maytag Run. There Class IV and V runs on the South Yuba as well, but they are not rafted commercially. Only a few companies run commercial trips on the North Yuba, in part because the season is short, but also because there is some extremely challenging whitewater and it takes experienced Class V guides. In the spring, the water can get high, making the run more dangerous (but also a little more thrilling).
Yuba River Tip
Even if you go with a commercial rafting company, you will be “away from it all.” The Yuba has fewer boats coming through than of the forks of the American.
